Publishing a passport: completeness and the drafts workspace
Why new passports start private, and how to make them public.
A brand-new unit's passport is created immediately, but starts as a private draft rather than live to the public — unless the product it belongs to already has all of its required ESPR fields filled in, in which case it publishes itself automatically.
Why
A passport with zero material, origin, or repairability information isn't worth scanning. Rather than publish something empty by default, CertyLoop asks for a conscious "go live" action once the content is actually there.
Required vs. optional fields
Each product model has a completeness score. Required fields include category, GTIN, country of origin, materials, care instructions, repairability notes, spare parts info, and a compliance summary. A hero photo is optional — helpful, not required.
Publishing
- Open the unit's detail page, or go to Product Units → Drafts to see every unpublished unit grouped by product.
- Fix any missing required fields on the product model (one fix covers every draft unit under that product).
- Click Publish — for a single unit, or "Publish all" for every draft under one product at once.
Once published, the passport's public URL never changes, regardless of your subscription or billing status — a customer's passport link is never allowed to break.
